One of the most elegant kinds of flooring you can get today is Bamboo flooring. However, this is subject to many other variables, such as how you take care of the floor in question. When you don’t care for the floor as well as you are supposed to, it may end up developing defects that make it look much uglier than you would be comfortable with. This means that before you can install the floor, you need to have a good idea of what it takes to maintain it, and then use this to figure out if you are comfortable getting the floor or not. Some of the things you may need to do if you are keen on keeping the floor in good condition include:
Avoid wearing high heels when walking on the floor
High heels exert a lot of pressure on the floor, and in this case the fact that the floor is wooden means that it can be easily damaged. Therefore, before getting the bamboo floor, you need to remember that it would not be a good idea to wear high heels when walking on it. This means that in cases where such shoes are going to be used a lot, getting this kind of floor would not be the smartest idea.
Tips on cleaning the floor
You will also need to clean the floor regularly in order to keep it in good condition. However, how you do this also matters. When you are dealing with a bamboo floor, you should always use a soft piece of cloth to remove any dirt from it. If you are to do a thorough cleaning, you should try and use a damp piece of cloth rather than pouring water on it and then mopping it up. Doing the latter will cause water damage to the floor, and this may make repairs very expensive.
You should also avoid using chemicals such as abrasives and detergents when you are cleaning the floor. These may give the impression of being more thorough at cleaning, but in effect they normally do more damage to the floor. For cleaning such a floor, all you need is a slightly damp piece of cloth.
Always use doormats
When you have a bamboo floor in your home or office, it’s a good idea to use doormats at the entrance of the building. Such mats collect any debris from the shoes of the people entering the room, and this reduces the chances of things such as rocks scratching the floor. For best effect, you will need to use a mat that is good at getting rid of such objects from the bottom of shoes. One that has rough bristles on it would be the most ideal for such a situation.
As you can see, taking care of a bamboo floor is fairly straightforward. As long as you can do the above by planning through the process calmly, it will be very easy to ensure that the floor lasts for much longer without needing any kind of intense maintenance.
